Uncommon. Produced for an exhibition in Japan, this heavily illustrated catalogue represents two distinct, yet related, design pioneers – each presented in opposite sides of the journal. It features short introductions, and interviews, along with (313) illustrations, posters, book covers and advertising in color and black and white, including center fold-out pages. 

For the cover art, Chwast and Glaser each drew the other and combined them in a pattern, literally drawing on opposite sides of a desk, much like the organization of this publication. Their individual drawings are located inside the publication, printed on blue paper, with the caption “This illustration is a portrait... and if you continue to the left and right of heaven and earth, it will be endless” (translated from Japanese). This innovative approach is reminiscent of the eclectic and conceptual design of Push Pin Studios, the legendary company founded by Chwast, Glaser, and Edward Sorel in 1954.

A very good, stapled softcover with light wear. Highly recommended!
