“I am firmly of the opinion that trademarks, symbols, and signs must speak an international language.” — Yusaku Kamekura, Tokyo, April 1965.
This is Yusaku Kamekura’s second book on trademarks and symbols — his first was Trademarks of the World in 1956. This oversized book includes a massive 763 international entries (too many designers to list) designed within the last 10 years of its’ publication. It includes a Preface by longtime friend Paul Rand, a Foreword and individual essay “Some Notes on Trademark Design” by Kamekura. The back matter includes detailed design credits (designers name and country, client name and short descriptor) as well as a designer and client index. Large examples in black and white and some printed in as many as six colors.
A fine oatmeal cloth hardcover in a fine dust jacket with only a hint of wear. The binding is tight and the interior pages are bright and unmarked. An exceptional copy!
