Originally published in conjunction with RIT’s exhibition “Pierre Mendell - Posters from the Vignelli Center for Design Archives” from September 4, 2014 to December 19, 2014. The heavily illustrated exhibition catalog features (64) Mendell designed posters for the Opera, Museums, Cultural Institutions and Social Themes. Each is printed large, one per page in color with the title, year and client.
With a personal Introductory text “Pierre Mendell’s Passion” by Mendell’s assistant and “right-hand woman” Annette Kröger of the Pierre Mendell Studio, Munich. “One of my [Kröger’s] first impressions of Pierre Mendell was of him sitting at his desk, totally concentrated, cutting coloured paper with small scissors. After an hour or more a beautifully small design, a paper collage, lay on his desk under a piece of glass. It stayed there for up to a week. This was the first step in the process of an idea taking on a concrete form.”
Excellent softcover catalog with some stress marks, light wear and smudge marks to the black glossy covers. If you don't want the physical copy (why wouldn't you), you can view the entire flipbook at ISSUU.
