The Use of the Formica Symbol Manual [Raymond Loewy et al.]

The Use of the Formica Symbol, n.d. [c. mid to late 1950s]. Formica Corporation, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA; a subsidiary of American Cyanamid Company. 12.5 x 8, pp. 20 plus covers and acetate wrapper.

An early American standards manual introducing the New Formica Symbol describing the rules for use and suggestions for its treatment in application. This manual is not dated but this new, stylized "F" symbol was designed by noted industrial designer Raymond Loewy and business parter William Snaith, c. mid to late 1950s — perhaps this manual was published by them in conjunction with the delivery of the project. Illustrated with color featuring General Application, Product Names, Color Control, Associated Companies, The New Formica Trademark and How to Use It, and more.

A very good original manual with toning around the edges and light scratches to the acetate cover. The comb plastic binding is damaged with the top portion missing cracked; despite this all pages turn easily. There is an empty pocket on the last page; possibly where reproduction art once was.
