Boldly signed by Widmer “J. WIDMER” on the front free endpaper. Published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name held at the Herb Lubalin Study Center from 2.24 to 4.5.2003. Includes: Foreword by Robert Rindler, Introduction by the Curator, Philippe Apeloig, A bird's-eye view of French graphic design since 1945 by Margo Rouard-Snowman and a detailed discussion between Widmer and Apeloig. Catalog concludes with a Widmer's biography, notes on his design contemporaries and acknowledgments.

Not nearly as well known in the United States as other modernist designers, Swiss designer, Jean Widmer is “of similar significance to Paul Rand in terms of his integration of modernist concepts into graphic design.” Apeloig eloquently states: “Jean Widmer's style, or better yet, spirit, is singular: conceptual, spare, elegant, serious, utilitarian and, though rooted in an innate devotion to modernism, endlessly responsive to change.”
