Grobe Kabel [Nach Zeichnung von Rudolf Koch Geschnitten ...], Type Specimen, Gebr. Klingspor, Offenbach am Main, Germany, 1928. 8.75 x 11, nylon thread binding with 18 pages and a black and red printed geometric front cover. Interestingly, there is an extra leaf (unnumbered) tipped-in between pages 6/7. Typeface design by Rudolf Koch (1876–1934), the German letterer, calligrapher, author and more. Koch may have also designed this type specimen.

Uncommon. Mostly German (some French, Dutch, Greek and Spanish) language examples in 6 to 96 point featuring upper and lowercase letters in multiple weights. Illustrated throughout with (12) full-pages of black and white (and a few colored illustrations) typographic samples featuring: title page, book cover, chart, editorial layouts and display advertising as well as a spectacular, full-page photomontage advertisement offering Grobe Kable as wooden letters up to sixty cicero for poster printing.

Rudolf Koch designed Kabel, his geometric sans-serif typeface in 1927; similar to Paul Renner’s Futura, designed in the same year. “Released by Klingspor between 1927–30 in eight styles; four weights (Kabel Black as the heaviest), two of them with italics, and two condensed weights.” — Fonts in Use

A nearly fine type specimen with a slight bend to interior corners and some handling along the edges. Interior pages clean and unmarked.
