Geotype, Dry Transfer Lettering, June 1977. Geographics, Inc, Salt Lake City, Utah, stapled booklet (with sample, order form and return envelope), 10.25 x 10.25, 12 pp. Printed in the USA.
Geotype is an example of dry transfer lettering or ‘rub-down’ type that enabled design students, amateurs, and professionals to use actual typefaces without typesetting services or composing equipment. This sales booklet was used to inform the dry transfer lettering sheets: “Now you've got a choice in dry transfer lettering that can save you 40% in initial cost and save irritation and frustration as well. It‘s called Geotype : the newest dry transfer product on the market and we think it‘s the best.” Letraset pioneered this transformative technique in 1961.
The booklet features a list of typefaces offered by Geotype and their point sizes, along with various symbols, ornaments, dingbats, and tonal effects/patterns. Offered with this booklet are sample dry transfer sheets (including the full alphabet of Antique Olive Medium in 30pt) with an order form and return envelope provided by one of Geotype’s distributors: Graphic Resource Corp. of Greenvale, NY. An early and important piece of Geotype lettering history ephemera!
Very good with light handling to the booklet. Interior clean and unmarked. Sample dry transfer sheets are unused and as new. Uncommon as a group.
