Geigy heute / Geigy today edited by Dr. Markus Kutter, 1958. J.R. Geigy A.G., Basel Switzerland. 9 x 10, pp. 324 with German text. Printed in Switzerland.
This beautiful and functional landmark book was edited by Geigy's advertising director Markus Kutter and designed by Karl Gerstner for Geigy's 200th anniversary in 1958. Geigy heute “not only exemplified the new Swiss book design — square format, square-backed, headings and text typeset in unjustified grotesque — it also set new standards for information design in its statistical charts, ingenious diagrams of management structures and departmental organization.” (Richard Hollis, Swiss Graphic Design, 2006).
Heavily illustrated with color photographs by noted photographer René Groebli and others by Gerstner, Hofmann, Eidenbenz, Ifert, Tuggener, etc. Rare.
A very good book with a few bumped edges, mild soiling to the white spine and handling to the covers. Slightly cocked with the earliest pages bound tightly. Bumped pages near the bottom of the gutter throughout; otherwise all bright and clean.
