Typographie by Walter Marti (Lucerne), 1957. Druck: Schill & Cie. Luzern, Switzerland. 8.5 x 11.75, pp. 134 with German text. Designed by Marti.
Typographie is the follow-up book of the same title authored by Walter Bangerter and Walter Marti in 1951. Beautifully printed and designed, this lavishly illustrated (every page) volume explores contemporary (post WWII) Swiss typography and graphic design with examples printed on a variety of paper stocks, using refreshing color combinations and experimental printing techniques. Introduction by Marti with short commentary throughout including sections featuring: logotype, letterhead, business card, labels, wine lists, advertisements, folders and bookplates. An important and valuable contribution to the subject.
A near fine wire, spiral-bound book with a laminated, printed cardboard cover. Light wear, small tears and chips to the front/back cover corners and edges. Interior is fine with bright and clean pages. Overall, well preserved. With the celebrated “Museum Books“ (perhaps a distributor for this book) label on rear inside cover.
