Neue Grafik / New Graphic Design / Graphisme actuel: International Review of graphic design and related subjects edited by LMNV: Richard P. Lohse, Josef Müller–Brockmann, Hans Neuburg and Carlo L. Vivarelli, December 1962. Walter–Verlag AG, Olten, Switzerland. 9.75 x 11, pp. 64 plus covers with German, English and French text.
Published quarterly from 1958-1965 (17 issues, 18 numbers; issue 17/18 was a double issue), Neue Grafik was the most important journal responsible for disseminating contemporary and historical Swiss functional design ideas and philosophies. The journal’s sparse cover, rigorous structure and four-column grid (which extends to the interior pages) is designed entirely of text; meant to inform rather than illustrate the issues content.
Heavily illustrated with noteworthy content: An Industrial Firm with a Consistent Attitude to Graphic Design (Adolf Feller) by Hans Neuburg; Supports for a Window Display by Richard P. Lohse; Swissair Information Stand by Margit Staber; Exhibition “Die gute Form” by Hans Neuburg; Objective Industrial Advertising by LMNV; A Method of Design Applied to Advertisements and Business Stationary by Christof Gassner; A Modern Wine List by LMNV; A Series of Pharmaceutical Prospectuses by Pierre Mendell; De 8 en opbouw by Richard P. Lohse; “The Graphic Artist and his Design Problems” by LMNV; German Graphic Design in “Werbeform” by LMNV; On the Designing of Sans Serif Types by Günter Gerhard Lange; and Hotel Stationary Designs by Herbert Lindinger. Full-page advertising by Carlo Vivarelli (Adolf Feller) and others.
A very good, original periodical with lightly soiled white covers and a hint of wear to the spine tips and page corners; the front cover is pulled from the spine but not completely detached.
