Publisher's Excerpt: Graphic Design No. 42, 1971 [Isotype, Symbology and Emblems]

Publisher's Excerpt from: Graphic Design: A Quarterly Review for Graphic Design and Art Direction edited by Masaru Katsumie, No. 42, Summer, June 1971. Kodansha Ltd., Tokyo, Japan. 10.25 x 11.75, pp. 36 with Japanese and English text.

Excellent publisher's magazine excerpt featuring three articles: Otto Neurath and Isotype by Marie Neurath; Towards an International Symbology — Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo by Masaru Katzumie and Japanese Emblems in History by Katsube Atsuko. Heavily illustrated throughout.

Published quarterly in Tokyo, Japan from 1959-86, Graphic Design magazine promoted Japanese and Western designers, placing emphasis on work with a more constructed approach. Its editor, Masaru Katzumie (1909-83) was an influential critic and contributor to the development of Japanese Graphic Design.

A fine copy with a small crease on the back cover. An important magazine and uncommon in the United States.
