Der Grafiker Hans Hartmann: Eine Darstellung seines Schaffens by Hans Hartmann, 1958. 2nd ed., Verlag Stampfli & Cie., Bern, Switzerland. 8.5 x 8.5, pp. 68 with German text. Design by Hans Hartmann.
Hans Hartmann (1913–1991) is best remembered by his iconic 1972 design for Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) logo which was later revised by Josef Müller-Brockmann when he was awarded the new SBB project in 1978.
Der Grafiker features a short text on Hartmann (by J.S.) and is heavily illustrated throughout with (68) black and white and color images and various paper stocks starting with his earliest work while studying at the Kunstgewerbeschule Zurich (1930s) to more contemporary client commissions including: tapestry, clock tower, mosaics, signage, advertising, trademark, posters, magazine covers and much more.
An uncommon, near fine hardcover with illustrated boards. Some light wear and soiling, mostly the rear endpaper and blank back cover.
