The Aspen Papers: Twenty Years of Design Theory from the International Design Conference in Aspen edited with commentary by Reyner Banham, 1974. Praeger Publishers, New York/Washington, USA. 7.25 x 9.5, pp. 224. Design by Chermayeff & Geismar Associates. Dust jacket by Ivan Chermayeff. Photography by Ferenc Berko.

The International Design Conference in Aspen, Colorado was the epicenter for the exchange of seminal and often controversial ideas about architecture, graphics, industrial design, interior design and environmental planning. The Aspen Papers includes a generous sampling of more than 30 of those ideas from 1951–1973, with contributions from a diverse group of international luminaries; from designers to film-makers, psychologists and scientists including: Nikolaus Pevsner, Will Burtin, Henry-Russell Hitchcock, Paul Rudolph, Misha Black, Hin Bredendieck, Tomás Maldonado, Arthur Drexler, Bill Bernbach, John Cage, Ben Shahn, Len Lye, Ernesto Rogers, Moshe Safdie, Jacob Bronowski and many others.

A fine hardcover and jacket.
