IDEA, International Advertising Art edited by Noboru Sakamoto, Vol. 21, No. 116, January 1973. Seibundo Shinkosha Publishing Co., Tokyo, Japan. 8.875 x 11.75, pp. 132 with trade advertising. Japanese and English text. Art direction by Hiroshi Ohchi. Cover design by Barbara Nessim.

Published since 1953, IDEA is a bi–monthly magazine dedicated to international advertising art, illustration, graphic design and typography. Heavily illustrated throughout in black and white and color and packed with excellent and uncommon Japanese and international content.

Featuring: Communication Package Design by Creative Partners; Infinite Patterns by Shigeo Fukuda; Visual Design of the XXth Olympic Games Munich 1972 by Hiroshi Ohchi; Noëlle Lavaivre and Her Works; Feminine Letterings by Maki Higuchi (wow!) by Hiromu Hara; Female Illustrator: Barbara Nessim by Shin’ichi Segi; David Wiseltier by Koichi Nakai; Allan W. Miller; Ryszard Horowitz; New York Art Directors Club’s 1972 Visual Communication Conference by Shin’ichiro Tora; Traditional Japanese Package Designs by Seymour Chwast and Here & There (industry news, etc.).

A very good, vintage magazine with light wear, traces of an old paper clip on approx. six pages and a bottom corner bumped throughout. Uncommon in the United States.
