Graphic Design International : Creative work of selected Colleges of Design from 12 countries by Igildo G. Biesele, 1977. 1st ed., ABC Verlag Zurich, Switzerland. 10.15 x 10, pp. 216 with German, French and English text. Printed in Switzerland. Designed by Igildo G. Biesele.

This practical and now, historical survey, perhaps the first of its kind, deals with the training of graphic designers at various schools around the world; each selected by the author and publisher (based on the book’s limited space; only one school per country). The result is a snapshot of creative work from specialized curriculums (i.e. graphic design, typography, illustration, packaging, photography).

With a Preface by the author and Introduction by Walter Jungkind, President of Icograda. A thoughtful text by Biesele deals with: Some thoughts about the profession and the training (specialist vs. non-specialist, individual and team work, theory and practice, methods, computer, creativity and more).

Followed by sections from (12) colleges from around the world: Canada, Czechoslovakia, Democratic Republic of Germany, Federal Republic of Germany, France, Great Britain, Holland, Italy, Japan, Poland, Switzerland and the United States. Each section discuss background, general aims and specific course of study, with summaries of exercises, experiments and finished works from students and sometimes professors (names included for both). Compelling content, richly illustrated with black and white and color examples. Part of the excellent ABC Verlag series.

A nearly fine glazed hardcover with only light wear along the edges and corners. Interior pages unmarked and bright.
