“In this volume are presented specimens of the typefaces available in matrix form for the Ludlow system of hand-set, slug-cast composition in type sizes ranging from 4-point to 96-point.”
Richly illustrated with black and white and color featuring specimens and design examples. With an Alphabetical Index to Typefaces, Index to Miscellaneous Matrices, Index to Miscellaneous Lining Matrices, Numerical Index to Typefaces and an illustrated Introduction.
”This volume itself affords the best evidence of the quality of design of Ludlow matrix faces and of the strides made in recent years in extending their range for users of the Ludlow system. While assortment of standard faces has always been rounded out and amplified, a vigorous program of original design has also supplied the Ludlow user with a number of distinguished faces not otherwise obtainable.”
A very good plus hardcover with only a hint of wear to the covers and corners and one small cut-out on page 119/120. Missing page 104/105; which is not referenced in the Index and seems to be missing in other copies ... did it ever exist or was it removed during the printing? No supplements included in the back cover pocket. Interior pages are both bright and fresh. Excellent!
