Rare. The definitive volume on publicity and graphic design for the Swiss chemical industry. Heavily illustrated with more than 239 large examples in black and white and color. Part of the excellent ABC Verlag series and the hardest volume to find in collectible condition.
With a short Preface by the author followed by multiple essays: The Publicity of the Swiss Chemical Industry by Neuburg; Dynamic Chemistry by René Rudin; Some Aspects Regarding Publicity in the Chemical Industry by Victor N. Cohen; and Problems of Composition in Graphic Design in the Chemical Industry by Josef Müller-Brockmann and more, presumably by the author.
Additionally, sections include introductory text and thoughtful descriptions about the projects illustrated. These sections include but not limited to: Juggling with Type, Publicity Pamphlets..., Announcements for Pharmaceutical Companies, Publicity Campaigns, Publicity for Prestige, The Special Field of Packaging for Pharmaceutical, Publicity and Design Problems in Agricultural Chemistry and the Color Industry, The World of Chemistry and much more. A page devoted to the graphic preparations for the book and an index.
A nearly fine hardcover with light wear to the edges. In the original, complete dust jacket with a small piece missing from the top of the spine, a few small tears and wrinkled paper on the front lower edge with a vertical tear to the back top edge. A very tiny and soft bump to the lower corner of the first approx. 30 pages with slight toning along the margins. Overall, a well-preserved volume.
