A short Preface by Erik Lindegren and an Introduction about the development of the alphabet by the Swedish writer, Olof Lagercrantz. This excellent compilation was later expanded for Lindegren’s three-volume set ABC of Lettering and Printing Types (Museum Books, 1964). With sections on Writing, Letterpress Type, Classifications of Types, On Legibility, Advertising and Accidental Types and an Afterword also by the author. Heavily illustrated throughout with examples on almost every page. Printed in black and white and color on a variety of paper stocks including: line drawings, historical photographs, illustrations, lettering and alphabet samples and more.
